Housing & Food Insecurity
Outreach
Despite being one of the wealthiest counties in PA, Chester County is not immune to the debilitating effects of poverty. THE POINT has very limited resources available to support our actively registered students and their families in times of crisis. The foundation of our support is to reduce hunger, homelessness and increase physical and emotional stability for POINT students and their families – recognizing the direct impact that hunger and homelessness has on a child’s capacity to thrive physically, academically, socially, and emotionally.
The needs in our community far outweigh our capacity for support. THE POINT’s Support is limited to one time a year and only available to actively registered POINT students and their families. ALL requests are carefully reviewed by our Crisis Coordinator.
HOUSING & UTILITIES
THE POINT seeks to prevent homelessness and ensure POINT students, and their families have a safe and dry home.
FOOD & NUTRITION
“We know that children are uniquely vulnerable to the impacts of food insecurity as their development, health, and education are compromised by hunger and malnutrition. “
- Chester County Food Bank
THE POINT provides snacks and nutritious meals for students daily at THE POINT during the school year and in the summer, both lunch and dinner. However, families often need more. On a case-by-case basis, THE POINT provides one time support to student’s families via grocery donations from our food-pantry or grocery gift cards to ensure no child goes hungry.
*We recognize that the needs of our community are great, but do not have the capacity to support youth and families who are not actively registered and being served by THE POINT. THE POINT has the right to deny requests for support, but when possible, will provide referrals.
