Mission
The POINT’s mission is to empower youth and their families to live victoriously by offering a safe, engaging and Spirit-filled environment.
History
The POINT was founded in 2003. It began as grassroots, collaborative effort of churches, community leaders, businesses, police, educational leaders, and the judicial system to address the needs of the most at-risk students in Western Chester County. Since 2003, our highly committed staff and volunteers have overseen our innovative, faith-based, after-school, weekend and summer programs. Within the first ten years, The POINT outgrew its 7,600 sq./ft. facility and moved into a 33,000 square foot converted grocery store complex. With the help of a very aggressive capital campaign, The POINT is now debt free and owns the 4.25-acre property which hosts a community center with an indoor skatepark, official High school size gymnasium, a 2500 sq /ft. cafeteria, a commercial kitchen, student chapel, fitness center, classrooms and our community’s local food cupboard.
Over 400 students are currently enrolled in our programs with an average of 50-80 attending daily and 250 attending over the course of the week. The POINT also provides several Friday night and weekend activities to help keep kids off the street.
