What’s THE POINT?
About Us
Established in 2003, The Parkesburg Point Youth Center (THE POINT) originated as a collaborative endeavor among churches, community leaders, businesses, law enforcement, educators, and the judicial system. Its purpose was to address the challenges faced by the most vulnerable youth in Western Chester County. Since its inception, our dedicated staff and volunteers have developed and managed innovative faith-based programs during after-school hours, weekends, and summers. Within its first ten years, THE POINT outgrew its initial 7,600-square-foot space, transitioning to a 33,000-square-foot complex housed in a converted grocery store. Through an ambitious capital campaign, THE POINT has achieved a debt-free status. It now owns the 4.25-acre property along with its buildings. Additionally, thanks to established partnerships with 20+ local churches and 200+ volunteers, THE POINT also provides a nourishing meal for students each night of the week that a program is offered.
The core mission of THE POINT is to provide unwavering support and essential resources, empowering youth and families to live victoriously. This mission is lived out through each program being offered. Programs at THE POINT are designed with the following core principles and goals in mind:
- Provide access to an engaging, safe, and supportive environment.
- Empower students to develop leadership skills, confidence, and a positive identity.
- Encourage students to stay in school and set post-secondary education/employment goals.
- Create access to activities, education, and resources that promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Foster students' spiritual exploration and development.
